Senate President Condemns Killing Of Farmers In Borno
The Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan has revealed how Nigerians could contribute towards ensuring security in the country.
Lawan stated this in a statement signed by Ola Awoniyi, his Special Adviser on Media while reacting to the report about how Boko Haram sects slaughtered 43 Rice farmers in Zabarmari, Borno State.
Lawan decries the incident as another act of barbarism against innocent Nigerians minding their business. However, the Senate President condoles with the families of the victims, Government and people of Borno State over what he tagged a senseless carnage.
He opined that the incident is heart-rending and again demonstrates why Nigerians must continue to support the security forces to thwart the criminals in their evil determination to impose a reign of terror on the North East of Nigeria.
According to him, the heinous crime is particularly sad given the ongoing efforts by the Federal Government at ensuring food security in Nigeria through the many programmes that have been put in place to support the agriculture sector.
Meanwhile, he urged the security agencies to redouble their efforts to bring an end to mindless violent crimes in the country.
