Toyin Saraki, wife of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has raised eyebrows against domestic violence in the society.

Saraki in a post on her Twitter handle urged people who have power in one way or the other to channel their energy to the right paths for the betterment of Nigeria as a nation.

For your family’s wellbeing, for peace in your home, for a better Nigeria, use your power for good. #StopThinkTwice in moments of frustration, and we can decrease the rate of domestic violence in our community.

In another post, she noted that one out of four women in Nigeria had experienced domestic violence, especially during the Coronavirus lockdown.

“1 in 4 women in Nigeria have reported experiencing domestic violence, and particularly during the #COVID19 lockdown, officials warn that rate will increase due to tensions heightening at home. You have the power to change those stats. #StopThinkTwice in moments of frustration.

“I call on the quiet majority who value respect and non-violence: take a more active stance against domestic violence. For the health and safety of your mothers, sisters, children: we need men to play a role in ending violence against women. 

She also sensitized her followers on the need to do away with information that could mislead others as regards Coronavirus pandemic.
