French President, Emmanuel Macron has tested positive for the novel Coronavirus, COVID-19. His office announced this on Thursday morning.
According to the presidential Elysee Palace, the President took a test as soon as the first symptoms appeared.
However, the office did not say what symptoms Macron experienced.
It was gathered that Macron said he would isolate himself for seven days and continue to work and take care of his activities at a distance.
Macron, who was due to travel to Lebanon next week had met with the Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa for a working lunch on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, France has switched from a strict COVID-19 lockdown to a curfew this week and will be easing restrictions further for the Christmas holidays.
