British actor, writer and director Olatunde Olateju Olaolorun a.k.a “O.T.” Fagbenle has been cast as a male lead in the upcoming Black widow solo film. Fagbenle has had an impressive career, he began acting as early as 14 and has been in several Broadway productions. His most recent and probably notable role is from Hulu’s The Handmaids Tale where he plays Luke Bankole.
Less than 5 years ago, A black widow film seemed like a project that was never going to be green-lit by Marvel studios. There have been countless memes, sketches and parodies poking fun at the character and how dispensable she is as a member of the avenger team. However, it looks like Marvel, know what they’re doing. They are simply waiting for the right time to drop a black widow film. In my opinion, I’ll say making the film, after the grande finale of end game would be a smart move. Only little details about the Phase 4 of the MCU have are known at the moment In fact, the only confirmed film with an official release date is Spiderman:Far from home, and even the films timeline is still being kept a secret.
The movie’s plot too has managed to kept secret(Where is Rufallo and Holland when you need them?) but it will indubitably be focused on Natasha Romanoff, a KGB trained spy and assassin turned Sheild agent and eventual avenger.
Since 2018, Black widow’s stand-alone film is slowly coming together when it got Cate Shortland (Lore) as director earlier this year. It was earlier reported that she will be working from a script by Jac Schaeffer. However, reports say that the script is going to undergo a re-write by Ned Benson(The disappearance of Eleanor Rigby)
Other Hollywood heavyweights like Malevolent’s Florence Pugh and Stranger Thing’s David Harbour joined the cast in March and early April respectively. According to Harbour, Black widow will kick off production by June in London.
