The Opposition, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has uncovered what it described as a plan by President Muhammdu Buhari to promote Ibrahim Magu, the former Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
In a statement by Kola Ologbodiyan, the party’s spokesman, the PDP condemned what it described as the plan to promote Magu, despite his open indictment for abuse of office and corruption.
According to the main opposition party, the plan to promote Magu to Assistant Inspector General of Police confirms that the Buhari-led administration is a sanctuary of corruption.
The party accused Buhari of rewarding corruption by promoting an individual indicted for treasury looting instead of allowing justice to take its course.
The PDP noted that reports of planned promotion for Magu had heightened apprehension in the public space that some cabals in the Buhari Presidency are overburdened with corruption complicity.
Meanwhile, the party urged the Police Service Commission to resist the pressure from the corrupt cabal in the Buhari administration to promote Magu.
You will recall that the Justice Ayo Salami Presidential investigation panel indicted Magu for stealing billions of naira recovered by the anti-graft agency.
Also, Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice had accused Magu of diverting funds and assets recovered by the EFCC.
