Passenger Dies Onboard Lagos to Mumbai Flight

A passenger onboard a flight from Lagos, Nigeria to Mumbai, India has died during the flight on Sunday morning.

The passenger, a 42-year-old male boarded the Air India AI 906 flight from Murtala Muhammed international airport (MMIA) in Lagos going to Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA). He died during the flight despite the doctors onboard who declared him dead trying hard to revive him.

After the plane landed at the airport at about 3:45 am, the doctors of airport operator in Mumbai international airport transferred the body of the passenger to the Vile Parle-based Cooper hospital in Mumbai.

A spokesman from Air India said, “A 42-year-old male passenger, aboard AI1906 of June 13, 2020, Lagos to Mumbai flight passed away due to natural causes today. A doctor on board along with our crew, who are trained to handle such medical emergencies, made an all-out attempt to revive the man through resuscitation, but all their efforts went in vain. He was declared dead on board by the attending doctor.”

Meanwhile, a top source close to the incident said that the man had consumed a pill for his fever not to be detected when he wants to board the flight. He also said that as the pill’s effect subsided, the passenger’s fever skyrocketed and he was in physical displeasure, shivering on the plane. the passenger was also reported to have suffered from internal bleeding before he passed away, and the cause of death was recorded as malaria.

The Air India officials informed the relatives of the deceased about the death of the man, and also pointed out that the aircraft had been taken to be fumigated as per regular practices.
