The Okada ban directive is still taking place in Lagos State as the Government has restated the consequences that await riders and passengers who fail to obey the instructions.
What defaulters or lawbreakers stand to face, peradventure they break the Okada ban laws would cut a valuable period out of their entire lifespan on this earth.
The laws which are effective in some key areas in the State, if broken, the culprit would stand to face a three-year prison time in one of the State’s correctional facilities.
The shocking part of the law is that it also affects the passenger just as much as it affects the motorcyclists conveying them to their various destinations.
Already, enforcement has started as the Lagos State Authorities have stationed up to five hundred (500) security operatives in strategic locations.
On the other hand, there are rallying Okada men kicking against the ban and telling the State Government that they’ve been denied a means to make ends meet and ways to get their daily bread.
The Okada ban in Lagos affects 4 additional Local Government Areas, LGA, and 6 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, that is “Kosofe LGA, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Isolo LCDA, Ejigbo, Shomolu LGA, Bariga LCDA and Mushin LGA, Odi-Olowo LCDA.”
