Nigeria won Bronze with the last jersey Nike produced for them could this be a move a higher trophy? Answers to come in the AFCON tournament which comes up 2021 in Cameroon. The former jersey which Nike produced for the Super Eagles of Nigeria was among the best jerseys in the world. It sold over millions of Naira on the day of release. The full set of the jersey then cost 94 thousand naira.
The jersey was introduced in 2018, Nigeria only lost to one African country with jersey and that was in the semi-finals of the 2019 AFCON held in Egypt. They won Bronze with the jersey although people are saying jerseys don’t win matches but i do believe jerseys gives more confidence.
The new jersey was lunched yesterday and sure people have started placing orders although they have not given a price for the jersey and kits yet. changed the game with a collection for the ages that set a new standard for how Nike approaches federation design,” read a Nike statement.
The new jersey is designed in form of the Nigerian popular agbada robe with modern football design according to Nike in a statement. “The kit’s pattern was hand-drawn and is highly symbolic of Nigerian heritage with nods to nobility and family,” continues the statement. “Nigeria’s crest is placed centrally on the chest with a Swoosh underneath it.
“The player names and numbers integrate the eagle feather into the application. ‘Naija’ appears inside the neck of jersey and on the back of the socks in a new typeface.”
The Nigerian soccer team is set to wear the home design during the qualifying campaigns for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2022 World Cup. The white and green first-choice strip will be complemented by a snazzy away design for the home jersey.
“The away kit is inspired by Onaism, a traditional artistic movement central to Nigerian design and craft represented in the trim details. “An eagle feather aesthetic, creatively distorted, continuously repeats in ascending size to create a visual impact,” the statement concludes. “The collar has a slight V overlap with a thicker overlap in the back. Both the collar and the sleeves feature a slight nick at the mid-point.”
