Nigeria Governor’s Forum Denies Hoarding COVID-19 Palliatives

In reaction to the COVID-19 warehouses that were discovered and looted in some states across the country and the allegations that the palliatives in the warehouses were hoarded, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, has explained the rationale behind keeping the palliatives where they were found before it got looted.

Reacting to the alleged hoarding, the forum in a statement issued on Monday, October 26 described the allegation as inaccurate and mischievous noting that the palliatives had the CACOVID stamp embossed on them, an indication that their source is unambiguous.

According to the forum, the operations of the Coalition Against COVID-19 -CACOVID are mainly domiciled in Lagos, being the headquarters of most of the public-spirited organisations, corporate bodies and individuals that came together to form the CACOVID.

Meanwhile, the NGF regrets the loss of lives and property occasioned by the attacks that occurred during the EndSARS protests as it also called for calm among Nigerians.

The NGF further stated that some other states that had palliatives in their warehouses chose to keep a strategic reserve ahead of a projected second wave of COVID-19 adding that some states were still receiving palliatives from the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development as of a couple of weeks ago.
