Coronavirus in Nigeria: Niger State Lifts Lockdown Order For Juma’at

Niger State has lifted ban on religious activities in the state despite the lockdown order enforced on such activities in all state with confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

In a special announcement made by the Information officer for the Secretary to the state Government and state Chairman, of Taskforce on COVID-19, ban has been lifted on congregation Friday prayer (Juma’at) for today, Friday 17th April 2020.

However, the Juma’at prayer is expected to hold between 11am to 3pm under strict observances of all precautionary measures, maintaining social distancing and avoiding contact base greetings.

The sermons are to be conducted within 30 minutes and muslims are advised to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures taken by the government to contain the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The lockdown enforcement is said to be restored immediately after the Juma’at prayers.
