Missing Child Cases Increasing in Abuja

Share

Missing child cases are becoming too scary in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, as day after day, the matter just keeps getting worse.

Listening to a live radio broadcast where families with a missing child case would report to the radio community team to seek assistance finding their kids, the shock from the program that lasts for over three hours cannot be explained calmly.

It was observed that for three hours straight, only cases of persons that have gone missing were presented before the team who assured of finding lost people comprising children, teenagers and adults.

Some have been gone for years, others months or a few weeks and days. The enforcement team that has accepted the mandate to investigate the matter and come up with results sounded stressed and overwhelmed by the number of cases brought for a solution.

Highest Records of Missing Child Cases

The shocking part about these missing person cases is how they go missing in the first place? Children kept with their neighbours or relatives are the highest of all the complaints presented during the programme.

Within the blink of an eye, they disappear into thin air, leaving them going for some minutes to days, weeks, months and years.

It was gathered that most cases reported to the police station only turn out to become exploitation. Many testified on the programme that police officers come up with all kinds of names for the fees they collect from poor and struggling families in the name of investigating the whereabouts of the missing person.

Some officers have been alleged to turn certain families into cash cows and endlessly keep milking them until the families give up and seek other help channels.

Those that have been very effective in solving these cases are the likes of HumanRights Radio – Brekete family – where several-success cases have been recorded.

Parents are advised to watch over their children and desist from trusting friends, families or neighbours when it comes to the well-being of their children. Be warned!
