Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has been placed under probability for the Manchester derby, which comes up this weekend. The France international picked up a hamstring injury in their 2-2 draw against Atalanta.
The 28-year-old former Real Madrid player limped off after 38 minutes in United’s 2-2 Champions League draw against Atalanta. Another doubtful player is Victor Lindelof. He was not in the game against Atalanta. Raphael Varane only returned from a groin injury he sustained in last weekend’s 3-0 win at Tottenham. United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said Varane would be assessed on Wednesday.
He said: “First look, felt his hamstring. He didn’t want to risk anything. The first assessment does not look good. Fingers crossed.” Fifth-placed Manchester United will host rival third-placed Manchester City in the Premier League (kick-off 12:30 GMT), trailing Pep Guardiola’s side by three points.
