Man Sentenced to 26 Years for Abducting, Molesting and Marrying Teenager

A justice of the Federal High Court has sentenced Yinusa Dalhiru to 26 years imprisonment for multiple charges. Yinusa Dalhiru abducted a 14-year-old girl named Ese Oruru from Bayelsa state and took her to Kano in 2014. he forcefully married her and converted her to Islam. Ese Oruru was renamed Aisha in Kano.

Following an outcry from her parents and activists, she was returned home in 2016 pregnant. The suspect was arrested at that time. Ese Oruru delivered a baby girl eventually.

Yinusa Dalhiru met Ese at her mother’s food shop in Bayelsa from where he abducted her. According to Ese, she recounted that she is not aware of how she got to Kano with Yinusa from Bayelsa state.

Well, the suspect was charged to court and now sentenced by Justice Jane Inyang of the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state to 26 years imprisonment. The charges were centred on child trafficking, child abuse, kidnap, infringement of right of religion and holding a person against their will.
