The Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has visited his Osun State counterpart, Gboyega Oyetola to express appreciation over the agreement to end the joint ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH) Ogbomoso.

Governor Oyetola in a tweet on Monday revealed that he received Makinde and his entourage in the Osun state government house.

Oyetola added that the decision to allow Oyo to take the full ownership of LAUTECH was reached in the best interest of the two states, the students, staff and management of the school.

He, however, reassured Osun citizens working at LAUTECH that the ceding of the institution to Oyo State won’t affect their jobs.

Governor Oyetola stressed that they will retain all rights and obligations, as stipulated in their letters of engagement.

According to him, Osun students at the university will not be discriminated against and will not be subjected to fees or admission differentials.

In his remarks on LAUTECH ownership, Governor Makinde commended Oyetola for the role he played in finding a permanent solution to the many years of joint ownership crises of the Institution.

Makinde added that without the leadership quality displayed by Oyetola, the problem could not have been resolved.

You will recall that the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently handed over LAUTECH ownership to the Oyo State Government while the Osun State Government took over the College of Health Sciences in Osogbo.

The decision was taken after the joint owners, Osun and Oyo, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to effect a new management structure of the institution.

Also, Makinde reiterated that indigenes of Oyo and Osun State working in the institution will retain all the rights and privileges stipulated in their letters of engagements and that the security of their jobs was guaranteed.
