Lai Mohammed Denies Claims To Shutdown Big Brother Naija Show

Nigerian Minister for Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has denied giving NBC order to shutdown the ongoing Big Brother Naija show.

The report going on was that Lai Mohammed ordered the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC, to suspend the show due to COVID-19 fears even though the minister was alleged to try to banish the show’s producer, MultiChoice out of the country.

The Big Brother Naija season 5 show tagged ‘BBNaija Lockdown‘ has been the most talked about on social media in the country and it is the most entertaining reality TV show in Nigeria.

There were fears when Nigeria’s Minister for Information and Culture made a move to shut down the show which made Nigerians criticize him on social media platforms.

Lai Mohammed Denied Shuting Down Big Brother Naija Show

Lai Mohammed through a statement via his media aide has debunked the media claim of shutting down Big Brother Naija show.

The report was said to be speculative as there was no memo to support the claim that he ordered the NBC to suspend the show on DSTV.

The statement by the media aide reads ”The report was not credited to the minister. That statement is not credited to the minister. We will not dignify speculative reports; if a minister issues a directive, it will not be used verbally”

The statement also reads there was no memo concerning that, and if anyone feels there is, it should be provided while also saying that the show is never shutdown as it is still being aired by Cable TV.
