Following the indefinite suspension of Twitter’s operations in Nigeria, a new microblogging platform known as Koo has launched in Nigeria.
Aprameya Radhakrishna, the co-founder of the platform, announced that the platform is now available in Nigeria, noting that the company would add new local languages for users in the country.
The Indian micro-blogging firm confirmed that the platform is now available in Nigeria, noting that the West African country is similar to India in terms of language diversity.
Radhakrishna further explained that the micro-blogging site has a global outlook and will enable micro-blogging in countries that need it the most through its scalable platform. He added that the company plans to grow into one of the world’s largest social media platforms.
Earlier, the Attorney General of the Federation and the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, had directed the prosecution of those defying the directive announced by the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Malami, directed the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation (DPPF) to swing into action and urged the DPFF to commence the prosecution of violators of the Feliaise Government De-activation of Twitter operations in Nigeria.
According to his media aide, Umar Gwandu, the AGF directed the DPPF to liaise with the National Communication Communication, Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy and other relevant government agencies to ensure the speedy prosecution of violators.
EveryEvery.ng had reported that First Lady Aisha Buhari had deactivated her Twitter account barely 24 hours after the Nigerian government announced the indefinite suspension of the microblogging site.
