Abductors suspected to be Fulani herdsmen have abducted and demand outrageous ransom for fufu sellers plying the roads of Ayetoro-Olorunda in Imala, Abeokuta-North Local Government in Ogun State.
Reports had it that the traders were taken at around 4: 45 am on Saturday while on their way to deliver goods to their customers on the Iwofin around Olorunda area of the state.
Investigation revealed that the abductors waylaid the care that morning and took five victims hostage. The victims include Kamorudeen Olateju (the driver), Ms Saidat Adediran and three other sellers.
Reports from a source said that the kidnappers threatened the drivers and dragged him along with the other victims that included fufu sellers who would deliver wholesale goods to their clients.
After not hearing from their family members, relatives of the two kidnap victims, Abubakar Olateju and Kehinde Adediran, reported to the Imala divisional headquarters.
Contrary to the reports of the anonymous source, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public relations officer of the state, said that the kidnappers took only two people as hostages and confirmed that one of the suspected kidnappers had been taken into custody.
Reports say that the kidnappers demanded the sum of N5 million for each victim, making it N10 million ransom for fufu sellers.
When asked if this was Fulani herdsmen attack, the officer just said that the arrested suspect is a Fulani man.
