Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has come out to ruled out a possible move for Barcelona star Lionel Messi who have raising dust in the football scene since the player declared his interest to quit Barcelona. Many clubs across Europe and even in America has been coming for the player and it has left many askling if Liverpool is also among the millions of clubs wanting Messi.
Messi’s future has been surrounded by speculation since asking to leave Barca but Klopp says there is “no chance” he will join the English champions. The Liverpool boss says he does not believe the Argentine will even come to the English Premier League when he was asked if he has an interest in the six-time Ballon d’Or winner he said: “Who doesn’t want Messi in their team? “The numbers are not for us, but a good player, to be honest,” he added.
Messi has been linked with a reunion with former Barca boss Pep Guardiola at Manchester City with many player tipping him to play in the English Premier League, Jurgen Klopp said should Messi come he will “obviously” help Manchester City and make them “harder to beat”.
Jurgen Klopp also said: “For the Premier League, it would be great, but I am not sure the Premier League needs that boost.” “He’s never played in another league. Football is different here. I’d like to see it but I’m not sure I will,” he concluded. Liverpool continues their pre-season preparations against FA Cup winners Arsenal in the Community Shield on Saturday.
