The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has postponed the date for the commencement of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.
According to the head of public affairs and the board’s protocol, Benjamin Fabian, the 2021 UTME and Direct Entry, scheduled to commence on the 8th of April 2021, has been postponed.
Fabian noted that JAMB postponed the 2021 UTME due to unforeseen circumstances occasioned by the board’s determination to integrate the National Identity Number, NIN, with the Examination.
However, the JAMB spokesman urged candidates to exercise patience, adding that the board is working towards resolving the issue in good time to enable candidates to create their profiles.
Everyevery.ng had reported that JAMB earlier announced that the Examination would hold between June 5 and June 19. The Board stated that both the 2021 UTME and the direct entry forms would be on sale concurrently.
Meanwhile, the JAMB spokesman stated that the National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory for any prospective candidates to be registered. According to him, the NIN is compulsory for participation in the 2021 UTME.
The examination body has retained the registration cost at N3,500 and an additional N500 for the candidates’ mandatory reading texts. JAMB said the 2021 UTME forms would be on sale across 700 centres nationwide between April 8 and May 15 (read more here).
