A Lagos debtor Florence “Pseudo name” has told Justice Olusola Williams of Ebuka – Obi Uchendu’s Judging Matters that she could not pay the debt she owes while her children are hungry.

The Lagos debtor was dragged to Judging Matter by a thrift collector named, Cyril Chukwelu, for collecting a loan of N75,000 and refusing to pay including the agreed interest of N20,000.

According to Cyril, she collected the loan with the agreement that she was going to pay back the total of N95,000 in bits, that is N15,000 for six months, but she refused to continue with the repayment plan after paying the first month.

He prayed that the court mandates the woman to pay him back his money after over a year of not paying.

In her defence, she agreed that she is owing the man, but has been unable to pay because her mini restaurant has not been well patronised since a container has been packed limiting access to her food joint.

She also stressed that her husband who could have helped repay the loan also lost his join the same month she took the loan, adding that she would have repaid the loan but there was no way she could have done that while her children are hungry.

The Lagos debtor also complained that Cyril has been calling her at ungodly hours because of the loan, making her husband and her in-laws suspect that she was having extramarital affairs.
