A Ghanaian actress, model, and entrepreneur, Yvonne Nelson has posted a video of how lawmakers in the country fight themselves in the process of choosing the speaker of the 8th parliament.

In the video, some members of the opposition National Democratic Congress disrupted the election leading to several commotions in the house.

Meanwhile, opposition members tried to whisk away the ballot box during the election.

It was gathered that the rowdy session in the parliament prompted the presence of heavily armed military and police officers.

However, an opposition member of parliament and a veteran politician Alban Bagbin was eventually elected as speaker of the 4th Republic.

Bagbin reportedly garnered 138 votes against the ruling New Patriotic Party’s choice, Aaron Mike Ocquaye, who polled 136, and this made him the first Speaker of Parliament who is not selected by the governing party.
