The culinary spectacle unfolded at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing massive attention both on-site and across social media. Hilda Baci, who hails from Akwa Ibom, showcased her culinary prowess by orchestrating a feat on an extraordinary scale.
The record-breaking dish was prepared using a staggering 4,000 kilograms of basmati rice, 500 cartons of tomato concentrate, 750 kilograms of oil, and 600 kilograms of onions. To hold it all together, a specially designed steel pot, six metres in diameter, was commissioned for the event.
Beyond the sheer size, the attempt highlighted Hilda’s determination and the cultural significance of jollof rice, a dish cherished across West Africa. Her achievement has not only positioned her as a trailblazer in the culinary world but also shone a global spotlight on Nigerian cuisine.
As fans and well-wishers continue to celebrate the historic moment, the world now awaits Guinness World Records’ official confirmation to seal Hilda Baci’s name in history books.
