Some suspected gunmen have reportedly kidnapped a Monarch, Aaron Ikuru, Monarch of Ikuru, and some boat travellers in the Andoni local government area of Rivers State.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the gunmen abducted the Monarch around 9:00 pm on Sunday at his residence, shortly after which the assailants whisked him away.
The Monarch’s spokesperson, Maurice Ikuru, confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, in a separate attack, some boat travellers and a University of Port Harcourt lecturer were intercepted and kidnapped by the gunmen while returning from Adoni to Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State police command spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the abduction, adding that the police would do rescue the adducted Monarch and other victims.
Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria, Niger State Chapter, has thrown its weight behind Sheik Ahmad Gumi’s negotiations with bandits.
The Association also supported Gumi’s call that the Nigerian government should grant blanket amnesty to bandits, adding that traditional and other religious leaders should imitate Gumi’s efforts.
According to the Chairman of the Association, Mathias Echioda, CAN, Niger State Chapter was on the same page with Gumi as far as bringing lasting solutions to insecurity is concerned.
