Unknown gunmen have tragically wiped out the family of ex- Benue State lawmaker,Mr. Ianna Jato, in their home overnight.
The wicked act was reported to have occurred in their home located in Nagu area of the state.
Report has it that the ex-lawmaker, his wife and son were all killed in their sleep on Tuesday night.
The three victims were not the only persons who were killed by the gunmen in Benue state last night as two other men were reportedly killed.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), DSP, Catherine Anene gunshots were heard around the spot of the crime, and immediate deployment of officers was made.
” On December 27, 2020 about 1a.m., a gunshot was heard in High Level area of Naka town and police officers were deployed to the area. Two persons were arrested at the scene of the crime, while two young men were found in a pool of blood.
“The victims were rushed to the hospital but were confirmed dead. Five more suspects have been arrested and investigation is still in progress.”
Killings and kidnapping have remained issues of concern for Nigerians, leading to several calls for security top-up and rejigging of security apparatus.
This killing bearly 24hours after President Muhammadu Buhari appointed new service chiefs.
