Governor Sanwo-Olu Announces 4,000 Jobs

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has placed 4,000 unemployed youths on forty thousand naira monthly salary for six months.

According to the Commissioner for Employment and Wealth Creation, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke, Governor Sanwoolu-led administration implemented the programme through the ministry’s Graduate Internship Placement Programme.

The Commissioner stated that the Lagos state government designed the programme to address unemployment among unemployed graduates in Lagos State.

She added that the programme would also expose interns to a particular profession, job or industry, enhance networking, provide a niche of entrepreneurial opportunities, and allow the graduates to have employability skills.

Arobieke further revealed that the programme would assist Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and other companies to choose from the state’s groomed talent/interns database.

The Commissioner said the programme would enhance productivity, boost businesses, and promote economic growth at no cost through the state government’s intervention.

She said over 1,932 companies indicated an interest in onboarding the interns after their training, and 4,736 applicants attempted the online Assessment Test.

Arobieke noted that the Sanwoolu-led administration is leaving no stone unturned in mitigating the unemployment scourge by reorienting the mindset of the unemployed youths in facing the realities of the present-day labour market.

Governor Sanwo-Olu revealed plan to strengthen the creative economy in Lagos State.

The Commissioner emphasized the need for job seekers to imbibe learning vocational and technical skills to be self-employed.

Meanwhile, Governor Sanwo-Olu has revealed that his administration plan to strengthen the creative economy and make Lagos state the capital of the sector in Africa through carefully thought-out collaborative initiatives.

The governor said the Lagos Creative Industry Initiative would partner with Del York Creative Academy to train 1000 talented youth across 57 LCDAs in different aspects of the creative business.

According to him, the partnership will increase the stock of quality workforce for the industry. However, he charged the beneficiaries to take cognizance of their role in the evolving Lagos story.
