The Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu has tendered a public apology over the abduction that happened in Kankara, Katsina State.

In a tweet, Shehu apologised for saying only 10 students were abducted from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara contrary to report that over 300 students were freed by their abductors.

Shehu explained that he was misled by people who should know better adding that the number he earlier announced was in no way done to downplay the seriousness of the situation.

He, however, described his early claims as incorrect communication. You will recall that during an interview with BBC Hausa, the Presidential aide had opined that it was 10 Kankara Schoolboys that were abducted.
