The Federal Government has on Monday, December 21 announced the imposition of fresh COVID-19 restrictions amid the rising cases of coronavirus infections in the country.
According to the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19, Mr Boss Mustapha, the new restrictions include the closure of all bars, nightclubs and clubs.
Others are event centres, as well as recreational venues in all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The PTF directed all restaurants to close, except those providing services to hotel residents, takeaways, home deliveries, and drive-ins.
Similarly, all informal and formal festivity events, including weddings, conferences, congresses, office parties, concerts, seminars, sporting activities, end of year events, have been restricted to not more than 50 people.
The government also limited all gatherings linked to religious events to less than 50 per cent of the capacity of the facility.
Earlier, the Minister of information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has hinted that the Federal government may consider a travel ban due to the new wave of Coronavirus infections.
Mohammed who revealed this on Monday in Abuja noted that the new wave of the virus, both spreads and kills fasters after it has been contracted (read more here).
