The Ekiti State government said it has discovered three hundred and sixty-two ghost workers in its civil service.
Professor Adio Folayan, the Commissioner for Local Government in the state disclosed this.
Folayan stated this before the committee set up by Governor Kayode Fayemi, in Ado Ekiti.
According to him, the state government was losing about 20 million naira monthly to the ghost workers.
He said the ghost workers are mainly in the local government areas of the state.
However, Folayan added that the state’s Accountant-General will stop the salaries of the ghost workers.
The Commissioner opined that the ghost workers would be prosecuted for fraud.
Also, he said all heads of department are expected to enforce discipline.
Meanwhile, Fayemi has promised quick implementation of all the recommendations of the committee.
