EFCC Investigates Speculations on Sales of Presidential Pardon

Share

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is now investigating speculations on the possibility of government officials selling the presidential pardon and filling in names of persons on the list of those not billed to be released from their prison sentences.

The anti-graft agency took time out to question some aides of the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, over the alleged sales of the presidential pardon spots.

The commission revealed that there is heavy suspicion of some questionable conducts from the office of the Attorney-General in the process of arranging the list of names that actually deserve to be forgiven.

EFCC Aware of Irregularities

It was learnt that most of the forgiven offenders have been released but the same cannot be said of Francis Atuche, a former managing director of Bank PHB, others included.

Another shocking development is that there is still no update on whether or not the pardoned former Governor of PlateauState, Joshua Dariye and his counterpart, former Governor of Taraba State, Jolly Nyame, currently serving jail terms for corruption, are yet to be released in actuality, even after their crimes were forgiven.
