The Chief Whip of the Senate, Orji Kalu, has reacted to the shocking death of 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni (Jnr) of Dowen College Lagos.
The former Governor of Abia State reacted to the news in a statement released on Monday in Abuja.
He praised the Lagos State Government for their swift response in closing the school pending investigation on the incident.
Kalu added that “The sad incident must be properly investigated by government in a bid to bring perpetrators of the act to book and also to forestall reoccurrence.”
He expressed his pain and displeasure at the sudden rise in cultism and other social vices, especially in secondary schools.
“We must not accept the unruly behaviour in our schools, communities and society at large. All hands must be on deck to ensure proper counselling of children, wards and loved ones,” he added.
The former Governor urged the Government, stakeholders, and school authorities to fight cultism and other social vices within our young wards.
He also urged parents and guardians to instil good moral conduct and discipline in their wards to avoid a reoccurrence.
Kalu commiserated with the deceased’s family and prayed to God to grant Sylvester eternal rest.
