Popularly Nigerian Afropop singer David Adeleke also known as Davido, gives all donated funds to Orphanages across Nigeria.

Davido made the big announcement on his Social media page on Saturday expressing his “sincere gratitude” to friends, colleagues, fans and the general public for their generous donations in the past few days.

The singer said he playfully asked that his friends send him a million naira each, and the responses he got exceeded his expectation after receiving about 2million naira.

He wrote, “In my usual playful manner, I requested a few days ago that my friends and colleagues send money in celebration of my birthday. The response and outcome exceeded my expectations, as I received about NGN200,000,000 in less than two days.”

The ‘skelewu’ crooner reiterated his passion for giving back and helping people; he, therefore, announced that all funds received would be donated to orphanages across Nigeria.

“I am excited to announce that all funds received totalling NGN200,000,000.00 will be donated to Orphanages within Nigeria as well as the Paroche foundation.” He tweeted.

He added that he would make a personal donation of fifty million to the already disbursed sum to total two hundred and fifty million nairas.

He further announced the names of a five-person disbursement committee set up to oversee the distribution, which includes

  1. Mrs Titi Adebayo – Chairman of the committee
  2. Professor Jonathan Nwosu – Secretary of Committee
  3. Professor Yahana Joel Asabe of the Northern N9igeria Seventh Day Adventist Union Conference.
  4. Pastor (Dr) Oyalabu (Spring Time Development Foundation (SDF))
  5. Professor Uloma Onuoha

He stated that the committee would compile a list of Orphanages across the country and determine the number of children and needs of each Orphanage.

To ensure transparency, they will also determine the portion of the money donated to the Paroche foundation and make the names of benefiting Orphanages public.

“The list of all beneficiaries & their verified account details will be submitted to Wema Bank, who we will instruct to credit each beneficiary’s account,” he wrote.

He concluded by expressing his desire to do this fundraising every year to celebrate his birthday by giving back to people in need and hopes that friends, fans, colleagues in the industry and the public will continue to support him through this cause.
