On Friday, the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, unveiled his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.
Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed was born in Zaria as one of the thirty-three children of the Baba-Ahmed family.
Baba-Ahmed has a BSc and MSc in Economics from the University of Maiduguri in Borno State, and worked in security Printing and Minting, Lagos, before joining politics.
Baba-Ahmed was elected to the Federal House of Representatives for the Zaria Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, in April 2003, under the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP).
Baba-Ahmed once represented Kaduna North senatorial district in the Senate between 2011 and 2012.
Datti Baba-Ahmed is the founder of Baze University, Abuja and Baba-Ahmed University Kano. The Baze University Hospital (BUH) is rumoured to be the biggest private hospital in Africa.
He was a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before joining Peter Obi for the Labour Party (LP).
