Share

Famous Nigerian comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha, also known as Basketmouth has challenged African leaders to invest in researching African herbs and treatments.

In a message on his Twitter handle, the comedian noted that African’s over-reliance on European and American pharmaceutical products should be of concern to the African continent.

Basketmouth said many of the imported drugs lead to other sicknesses which are referred to as side effects adding that he has never heard that African herbs lead to side effects.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the pharmaceutical industry in the country is a multi-billion dollar business instead of looking into curing sickness.

He challenged Africans to wake up to the reality stating that the continent has been sleepwalking for too long.

You will recall that Madagascar announced that it manufactured a herbal tonic for the cure of Coronavirus, COVID9-19, though the World Health Organization said it was not clinically certified for the treatment of the virus.

As of the time of filing this report, there is no certified cure for the novel Coronavirus which has resulted in the death of many people in Nigeria and around the world.

The most recent among prominent Nigerians who died as a result of Coronavirus complications is the former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who died at the age of 70 years.
