Chelsea FC, Europa League winners are prepared to part company with Nigerian international Kenneth Omeruo in the summer transfer window, provided an interested club meet their asking price. The Kaduna born Omeruo who was born on 17 October 1993 (age 25 years) is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a defender for CD Leganés, on loan from Premier League club Chelsea, and the Nigeria national team. Omeruo signed for Chelsea from Standard Liege in January 2012 and after signing went on loan to Dutch top-flight side ADO Den Haag.
In terms of first-team playing minutes, the 25 years old turned out the best of that match-day squad. Two months after that PL2 game he went on loan to Middlesbrough, starting 14 league games in the second half of the season. The season after that, he made 19 appearances for Middlesbrough, followed by years as a regular at Kasimpasa, Alanyaspor, Kasimpasa again and now Leganes. Omeruo focus is to remain at CD Leganes after an outstanding season in which he played 31 games in all competitions.
However, a reliable Spanish sports daily Marca recently stated that Chelsea fc have declined an initial offer of four (4) million euros from CD Leganes for the Nigerian International. Leganes wants to sign Omeruo on a permanent deal but the 25 years old star is also raising concerns from clubs in German and Spanish leagues among others.
Omeruo in recent time said that “I deserve stability.” That could be the motto of the loan army, especially the players in their mid-20’s who joined Chelsea as teenagers and have rarely if ever donned Blue. He also thanked Chelsea for supporting him and providing him with a favorable amount of autonomy with his career. He hopes they will continue to respect his decisions as he pushes for a permanent move to Leganes.
Furthermore, Omeruo seems to know the purpose of the loans are to develop him into a first division regular somewhere in Europe, maybe in England, but not at Chelsea. Insisting through his interview with , Tribal Football that “It is good for players to go on multiple loans because if you play in the Under 21 in Chelsea, you really don’t get a lot of experience doing that. But going out on loan, you meet people, you play in different leagues, improve yourself and you know different culture. It is very good for players to go on loans and I am a good example. I don’t wait around for them to tell me to go on loan, I just look for a club who wants me and I go.”
Omeruo finally thanked Chelsea for supporting him and giving him a decent amount of autonomy with his career. He hopes they will continue to respect his decisions as he pushes for a permanent move to Leganes. Although It’s confirmed that It will take in the region of six million euros to convince Chelsea to sell the center back.
