A fierce gun duel between members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province and Boko Haram members in their Sambisa Forest hideouts had reportedly resulted in the death of the leader of Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau.
Intelligence sources claimed that hundreds of ISWAP fighters invaded Sambisa Forest with heavy gun trucks hunting for Shekau, the factional leader of Boko Haram.
Meanwhile, EveryEvery.ng gathered that Shekau committed suicide when members of ISWAP attempted to capture him alive during a gun duel.
Meanwhile, some yet to be confirmed reports claimed that ISWAP dethroned Shekau members and that they have taken over the entire sambisa forest.
You will recall that the Nigerian Army had in time past claimed that Shekau was killed, only for him to resurface each time the military pronounce him dead.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the Nigerian military is yet to react to the speculations making the rounds that ISWAP had killed Shekau during a gun duel in the Sambisa forest.
