Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich playmaker Michael Ballack have lost his son Emiliano Ballack in a bike accident. The son is said to be just 18 years of age. The teenager was involved in a quad-bike accident that police told Reuters about in the early hours of Thursday morning south of Lisbon.
All Michael Ballack’s former clubs sent their condolences. The likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen all sent messages of condolence to him and his family. Former Germany goalkeeper Oliver Kahn, who played alongside him for Germany and Bayern Munich, also sent his condolences as he described it as he was “shook deeply” by the news.
The goalkeeper said: “There are no words at a time like this.” The German club said it was “united in grief with its long-serving player and his family”. Chelsea also sent their own condolence in a statement saying they were “shocked and saddened” to learn of Emilio’s death.
While Bayern Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller said: “The news came as a shock, and it’s hit me very hard.” “We mourn for the lad, and our thoughts are with Michael and Simone.”
