Brazil and Paris Saint Germain star player Neymar will miss the first leg of Paris St-Germain’s last-16 Uefa Champions League game against his former side Barcelona due to a thigh injury he sustained in their last game.
The Brazilian forward was injured in Pris Saint Germain’s French Cup victory over Caen on Wednesday. New manager Mauricio Pochettino will to Spain with his troops on Tuesday and they will be without the star player.
According to reports from the club, they said they except the 29-years-old to recover in four weeks, which could see him return for the second leg on 10 March.
Neymar wrote on his Instagram page saying: “The sadness is great, the pain is immense and the crying is constant.” He also said: “Once again, for a while, I will stop doing what I love most in life, which is playing football.”
He complained bitterly saying he feel uncomfortable because of his style of play, because he dribble and constantly get fouled. He said he does not know if the problem is him or what I do on the pitch.
Neymar helped PSG reach their first-ever Uefa Champions League final last season which they lost to Bayern Munich. He scored 13 goals in 17 appearances for Paris Saint Germain.
He is not the only player in the injury for the French Ligue 1 defending champions, former Real Madrid and Manchester United winger Angel di Maria is also sidelined with a thigh injury.
