Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Last Penalty Kick Gave Arsenal the Community Shield

Arsenal recorded their second title underboss Mikel Arteta as they beat 2019/20 English Premier League champions Liverpool to lift the Community Shield. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave the opener through a superb goal from Saka assist in the first 15 minutes of the game and celebrated crossing his arms dedicating the goal to Chadwick Boseman Black Panther who died early this morning then netted the winning penalty in a shootout as Arsenal beat Liverpool in the Community Shield at an empty Wembley Stadium.

Aubameyang’s curling strike gave FA Cup winners Arsenal the lead in the first half before Liverpool substitute Takumi Minamino equalised after the break. Liverpool came back into the game in the 73 minute of the as Minamino levelled the scores, the game ended 1-1 on full time and they went into the penalty shootout. Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster had his ball hit the crossbar with his penalty the only one not converted in the shootout, Arsenal skipper Aubemeyeng stepped up and converted the last penalty to hand his side the Community Shield.

This will make it the second year in a row Liverpool have lost on penalties after Manchester City’s victory in 2019. Aubameyang’s importance to Arsenal was once again shown in another impressive performance. The Gabon international, who scored two goals in the FA Cup final against Chelsea at the same stadium this month, could be signing a new contract after his contract expires as the manager believes the player will with the club’s success so far.

The Arsenal skipper has netted 71 goals in 110 Arsenal appearances and no Gunners player has scored more than his five goals at the venue. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said yesterday he was “pretty confident” the skipper will sign a new contract after a long, painful wait for supporters.
