The United Nations Human Rights Council, UNHRC has appointed famous Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2 Baba as the council’s regional goodwill ambassador.
While announcing the appointment on his Instagram page, the singer thanked the UNHRC for the recognition noting that he was honoured and humbled by the appointment.
2 Baba further stated that the appointment would deepen his commitment to supporting the effort of UNHCR personnel and volunteers.
He expressed his commitment to join hands with the council in providing support and hope to millions of forcefully displaced persons across the world.
However, the legendary singer also thanked donors and supporters of the UNHRC cause.
In a post on its website, the council confirmed the appointment of the singer and philanthropist stating that he been a committed Supporter of UNHCR’s LuQuLuQu campaign for the past three years.
The campaign is a pan African movement of people from all walks of life investing in a better future for forcibly displaced people across the continent.
According to the UNHRC, 2 Face has dedicated his time to uplift the narrative of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP) in Africa.
With this appointment, 2Baba has emerged as the first Nigerian to be appointed as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador.
