Zindzi Mandela Tested Positive For COVID-19 , Her Son Reveals

Zondwa, Zindzi Mandela’s son said his mother did in fact test positive for COVID-19 on the day she died.

The daughter of former South African president and ambassador to Denmark, Zindzi Mandela was said to have tested positive for COVID-19 on the day she died.

Zindzi who died in a Johannesburg hospital on Monday was a prominent international figure in South Africa and beyond. She got her first appointment as the South Africa ambassador to Denmark in 2015.

While not stating the virus as cause of death,  Zondwa Mandela, her son confirmed that she was infected by the virus.

While speaking the South African Broadcasting Corporation(SABC) broadcaster, Zondwa said,

“ My mother did in fact test positive for Covid-19 on the day of her passing. 
Although, this doesn’t, therefore, mean that she died of COVID-related complications, but simply that she tested positive for it.”


“Simply by the virtue that there was a positive test, we are therefore obligated to function and work within the framework of the existing regulation related to such cases.”
