Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar who were arrested and recently released from Saudi Prison for mistaken drug trafficking case, received N3m each from Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Ganduje. Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim were led to the governor by Hon. Abike Dabiri, Chairperson, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
Receiving then at the Council Chambers during the state executive council meeting, Gov. Ganduje thanked all the people who played various roles to secure the release of Zainab and Ibrahim. He said that this move shows how much the government cares for the citizens of Nigeria.
Ganduje went ahead to donate N3m, three million naira, each to the duo stating that the fund is to enable them start a fresh life and for Zainab to resume her schooling unhindered.
The two were arrested and detained for four months by the Saudi Arabian Anti-Drug Trafficking Agency over drug trafficking. They were released after their innocence was established.
The father of Zainab, Malam Habibu Aliyu Kila thanked the Nigerian government, the media and the civil society organizations for their efforts towards the release of his daughter. He appreciated governor Ganduje for his gesture.
