Zainab Aliyu, the Nigerian student detained in Saudi has been released.

According to the Personal assistant to the President on New Media, Bashir, Ahmad, he confirmed that the Federal Government has secured the release of a Nigerian student, Zainab Habibu. She was earlier detained in Saudi on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Zainab who was travelled in company of her mother and sister was arrested on the grounds of illegal drug possession. It was gathered that a bag with her name on the tag contained the said hard drug, tramadol.

She claimed that the drug was planted in her bag by unknown persons.

She was discovered to be a victim of a cartel that hide hard drugs in the bags of unsuspecting travellers. Some of these people are already in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement agency.

Buhari had earlier directed the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to immediately intervene in her case.
