Following the arrest of suspected illegal miners, some youths in the Owo local government area of Ondo State have begun searching for Gold inside the Owo forest reserve.
Everyevery.ng gathered that some wealthy individuals from Ondo State had provided funding for the search for gold in the State.
One of the youths confirmed that they have gone to different parts of the Owo forest reserve searching for gold, but their trips were unsuccessful.
The youth, who spoke under anonymity, said it was a slap on them for miners from other State to locate gold on their land while the indigenes were not aware.
While parading the suspect, the Commander of Amotekun corps in Ondo, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, said nobody would have believed that the State has such quality of gold until the suspects were arrested.
One of the suspects, Kabiru Shuaib, described the Ondo gold as very high quality, adding that the extracted gold is sent to their boss in Kebbi State.
Meanwhile, the mining site’s location in Ondo State has been kept under wrap to avoid possible communal conflict and the race to extract the gold.
