Some Nigerian youths took to Twitter to express their irritations over the arrest of no fewer than 120 suspected internet fraudsters by Operatives of the Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The commission’s zonal command in Ibadan, Oyo State, arrested 80 suspected fraudsters while their Enugu counterpart detained 40 of them, making the total number arrive at one hundred and twenty suspects.
However, some youths who didn’t find it convincing, stormed the official Twitter page of the anti-corruption agency to express their grievances, as @owoniyilb, said, “Those that imported adulterated PMS are walking freely despite knowing fully well that the effect of their actions is fraudulent, barbaric and frustrating. #EFCCNaScam, Stop fooling Nigerians.”
@oloja_of_lagos said if the commission continues to arrest fraudsters in this manner, he feels sorry for the country as majority of our youths are not properly motivated by the system, so they look for the easy way out.
He added that the government has failed them and with this administration in office for more than in 6 years, he noted that 70% of our young people a will be behind bars.
Also, @mrdueprocess, who commended the commission, hinted it is pertinent to remind them that the news of arrest of Nigerians, particularly internet and government fraudster, who have contravene the regulations of the Commission are in the increase.
“We are yet to see or hear to a logical conclusion of how any of these cases are been treated. We are not aware of any success story of how a case was pursued to a logical conclusion. We are not aware of how much was realized and what happened to those monies.” He added.
