Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade Eberechi, has being named as the newest goodwill ambassador by United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Yemi Alade made this known via her official social media pages. The self-styled ‘Mama Africa’ joined Nigerian legendary singer, 2baba in the UN team.

Receiving the appointment, the singer revealed that she is ready to roll up her sleeves and get to work in helping UNDP achieve its sustainable development goals by 2030 especially at this critical time where Covid-19 has impacted on many lives, further widening the gap between the rich and the poor.

In her words, ‘Covid-19 has widened the gap between the rich and the poor and I looked forward to lending my voice to those who are suffering the most from the socio-economic impact of covid-19.

”I’m ready to pull my sleeves and work hard, hand in hand with UNDP to ensure a green and equitable recovery for all. It’s the only way we can recover better and stronger. It’s the only way we can achieve the sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

”I’m super ready to give my all, my voice to the cause and the mission of UNDP” she concluded.

A few months ago, Yemi Alade was also shortlisted alongside Chimamanda Adichie, Sinach, Linda Ikeji and other hardworking Nigerian women as “most influential women” in Africa.
