Aminu Yar’Adua, the son of Ex-President, Umaru Yar’Adua has been remanded in prison for allegedly killing four people in Yola in an auto crash.
The Magistrates’ Court in Yola remanded the 36-year-old Aminu in prison after being charged to court for killing four people through dangerous driving on June 23, 2021.
The suspect, a student of the American University of Nigeria in Adamawa state, reportedly crushed six people while driving along Yola bye-pass on June 23, 2021, due to excessive speeding.
According to First Information Report tendered in court by the prosecutor, Inspector Zakka Musa, four of the victims were killed while the other two were left injured following the accident.
Those that died in the accident are Aisha Umar, Jummai Abubakar, Aisha Mamadu and a two-year-old Suleiman Abubakar. Others injured are Rejoice Annu and Hajara Aliyu.
EveryEvery.ng gathered that the relatives of the late Aisha Umar, Suleiman Abubakar and Jummai Abubakar had demanded fifteen million naira from the defendant as compensation. Meanwhile, the defendant denied committing the offence, describing the allegation as untrue.
The prosecutor pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter to duplicate the case file for advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions.
Jummai Ibrahim, the Magistrate, granted the prosecution’s request and adjourned the matter to August 19, 2021, for further mention, and ordered that Aminu Yar’Adua be remanded in prison custody.
