Xavi Hernandez: We Want to Play Good Football and Get Results

Former Fc Barcelona Midfielder Xavi Hernandez has on Monday been unveiled as the New Barcelona coach.

The former Al Sadd Manager signed a two and a half years contract after spending 17 years playing at the Catalan club.

During his unveiling, the new coach outlined his target after succeeding Ronald Koeman.

He revealed that he received a “good luck” text from Lionel Messi when it was confirmed he would be returning to the Catalan outfit.

Xavi speaking about the current Paris Saint Germane player, said, “Messi is a great friend. Him, Eto’o, Ronaldinho are no longer here. But we can only think about the players that are here.”

“I am excited, and I am back at home. We are in a tough situation economically and not in our best sporting moment. But we are Barca, and we are the best club in the world,” he said as he expressed his joy about the reception he received from the supporters on his return to the club.

He said he was emotional to see all the fans today, and he has returned to give them back good football and work seriously with the club’s values.

Xavi: Guardiola is World Best Manager

The former Spain International spoke on him being compared to Pep Guardiola, a former Barcelona manager now in charge of Manchester City.

The former Midfielder said he has clear ideas of what he wants to do, as he expresses the current reality of the club not being in their best moment but also admits “we want to play good football and get results.”

He said if he is being compared to Guardiola, then it’s something very optimistic about him; Guardiola is the best manager in the world.

He also reiterates the pressure of being in the best club in the world in his world. “Expectations are great, and we have to work hard to win many trophies,” he said.

Xavi will take charge of his first game as he welcomes Espanyol to Camp Nou after the international break.
