World Health Day: Sanwoolu Appreciates Health Workers

In commemoration of the World Health Day, the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu has commended the commitment of health workers in the state.

He made the commendation in a post on his official Twitter handle as he also expressed commitment to the welfare of health workers in the state.

As we celebrate #WorldHealthDay, we are strengthened by the hard work and commitment of our medical professionals. We thank them for their continuous service. As Governor, I am committed to their welfare and to make the standard of healthcare a priority in Lagos State, the governor tweeted.

Meanwhile, Lagos State is leading other States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja in the number of people infected with Coronavirus, COVID-19.

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, there are 238 confirmed cases 35 discharged 5 deaths as at 09:30 pm 6th April.

Further breakdown of cases by state shows that Lagos has 120 cases, FCT- 48 Osun- 20 Oyo- 9 Edo- 11 Bauchi- 6 Akwa Ibom- 5 Kaduna- 5 Ogun- 4 Enugu- 2 Ekiti- 2 Rivers-2 Benue- 1 Ondo- 1 while Kwara has 2 cases

However, many have commended the governor for his exemplary leadership style in dealing with the outbreak.

According to findings, 7 April 2020 is the day set aside to celebrate the work of nurses and midwives and remind world leaders of the critical role they play in keeping the world healthy. 

Nurses and other health workers are at the forefront of COVID-19 response, providing high quality, treatment and care, and in some instances, collecting data for clinical studies.
