Professor Wole Soyinka, a Nobel Prize Winner in Literature, in an interview on Arise TV, revealed how the President-Elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, refused candid advice he offered before the 2023 Presidential Election.
When approached for his support, Soyinka disclosed on Wednesday that he outrightly told Asiwaju to allow young and vibrant Nigerians to take the mantle of leadership.
Responding, the President-Elect Rejected the advice, blatantly saying ‘No’ to the Professor and insisting that he would still run for office.
Unrelenting, Prof Soyinka stated more reasons Asiwaju should withdraw his bid for the number one position in the country, but the Jagaban went forward with his ambition and won the Presidential Election.
On another note, the remark by the Labour Party, LP’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Yusuf-Datti, that sounded inciteful, was addressed by the Nobel Laureate Winner.
Soyinka dissociated himself from such views by LP’s VP, which suggested that the Supreme Court’s judgement must not swing the way of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and insisted that they would not accept the verdict.
Regarding President Muhammadu Buhari-led Government performance for the past seven years, the Prof hinted that it is not even a topic that should be considered for discussion, judging from the massive increase in poverty rates among the populace, insecurity and financial crisis, among other incompetences.
