Popular microblogging platform, Twitter, has threatened to suspend as many accounts as possible in a new development.

The social media platform was recently acquired by billionaire Elon Musk and has swiftly made many changes to the platform.

In a tweet on Monday, the “Twitter Complaint Hotline Operator”, as his bio read, wrote, stated that fake accounts will now be suspended.

He noted that any account impersonating anyone without clearly stating “parody”, will now be suspended.

Elon Musk tweeted, “Going forward, any Twitter handles engaging in impersonation without clearly specifying “parody” will be permanently suspended

“Previously, we issued a warning before the suspension, but now that we are rolling out widespread verification, there will be no warning. This will be clearly identified as a condition for signing up for Twitter Blue.

“Any name change at all will cause temporary loss of verified checkmark”

Since its takeover, Elon Musk has announced that anyone interested in the verification badge or wants to continue with the blue tick, will have to pay $8 for renewal every month.
